ALAHEDO 2021 Conference: Power, Privilege, Equity and Voice: Critical Lessons from 2020, Session II, Hard White: The Mainstreaming of Racism in American Politics
One of the most troubling developments in U.S. politics over the last decade has been the increasing visibility and influence of the white nationalist movement in American politics. This phenomenon, which we refer to as "the mainstreaming of white nationalism" in our new book, has accelerated in recent years due to the active encouragement of Donald Trump. In this presentation, Dr. Richard C. Fording, author of, Hard White: The Mainstreaming of Racism in American Politics, will provide an overview of the extreme/fringe right in the U.S., its implications for U.S. politics and society more generally, and what to expect from this movement over the next few years.
